September 15 – 19

Furniture course

This is our most advanced woodworking course and will expand on the skills taught in our basic Cabinetmaking workshop. Students will learn intricate joinery (mortise and tenon, sliding dovetails) while building a taper-legged Shaker-inspired cherry end table with dovetailed drawer (materials provided). The table looks exceptionally handsome when used at the side of a bed as a night table. Furniture course The top (with breadboard ends) is large enough for a lamp, clock, telephone and books, and students will be able to take home their project. Emphasis will include the critical "trueing up" of hardwood lumber using a jointer and planer, and the use of a variety of jigs and templates that can easily be made in the home workshop. Enrollment is limited to six.

Registrants should be graduates of our Cabinetmaking course or have the equivalent skill level.
