CARPENTRY FOR WOMEN+ Sept 4-6, 2026
April 21-25th
, 2025
OVERVIEW
This 3-day course gives students a basic overview of general terms, tools, and techniques used in the field of carpentry. Students will learn how to safely use a range of power and hand tools while working on a small project such as a picnic table or other similar build.
The class introduces core carpentry concepts including layout, measuring, cutting, and assembly, while also looking at the basic anatomy of framed structures—floor, wall, and roof systems—to build a solid foundation of understanding. Whether you’re planning future building projects, want to become more self-sufficient, or simply want the vocabulary and confidence to communicate clearly with contractors and builders, this course is designed to support you in taking the next step.
This course presents the basic techniques and principles of house building and carpentry in a supportive, hands-on learning environment rooted in Heartwood’s approach to craft and community.
